A premium native shopping app developed for a duty-free retailer in addition to their older web-based platform. Designed for iOS and Android, the app offers a modern, seamless shopping experience with a refreshed, high-end visual style and improved usability.
Client: Duty-free retailer
Project Type: Native app development
My Role: UI/UX Designer
Project Overview
The client had previously launched a successful web-based shopping platform for international travelers. As digital standards evolved and user expectations shifted toward native experiences, they decided to rebuild the platform as a dedicated iOS and Android app with a refreshed look & feel.
The goal was to create a seamless shopping experience aligned with modern design trends, while preserving the core functionalities of the previous platform.
Design Challenge
— Updating the existing interface with a premium design language.
— Rethinking the flow and interactions for mobile-first usage.
— Moving from web to native while maintaining user familiarity and business requirements.
— Aligning with premium look & feel expected in a luxury retail context.
My Role
I joined the project for the prototyping and testing phase, and my responsibilities included:
UI Design: Co-created screen design in alignment with the new design direction.
Prototyping: Built an interactive prototype to simulate key flows and test interactions.
— Usability Testing: Participated as a UX designer several rounds of user testing, gathering feedback and iterating to improve design.
Outcome
Successfully launched on iOS and Android, the app received 4.5★ (Google Play) and 4.7★ (App Store) ratings, highlighting the positive user response.
